Have you ever heard the slick salesman slogan, “Sow your seed offering today and watch it grow into a harvest!” Yes? well me too. I have heard it one too many times. This is a trick that is used by the cunning men and women who are charlatans but call themselves Christians in order to exploit the people and attain fortunes.

In this article we will use “MHM” for short to refer to the Money Hungry Minister. Sowing a seed of a certain amount is always used by the MHM. They have developed a heart that is full of greed. They may have started off small and were humble at a time but when notoriety increased, they became sensual and their minds began to focus on secular things. “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (Romans 1:21 KJV).

These MHM at once knew God but as the scripture states clearly, “They glorified him not as God, neither were thankful..” This tells us that somewhere along the line they became unthankful and focused more on secular things and “themselves” rather than on Trusting God and his Will.

It’s the will of the Lord that none perish but that all would come to repentance. Repentance is rarely taught by the MHM so as not to “offend” the congregant. If they offend the congregant then they will lose that contributor. Makes sense since they have developed a illegitimate practice out of the greediness of their “foolish heart.”

Extortion is the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats. How many times have you heard this said by the MHM, “Will a man rob God? if you don’t tithe to this church then you are robbing God.” This is a favorite slogan by the MHM. They use old testament set of scriptures directed towards the Levites and the Priesthood of Aaron for their ill practices and place that condemnation upon the congregation. The Rebuke in Malachi is misdirected by the MHM by taking the verses out of context and directing them towards the people/congregation. The irony is that if we follow the MHM twisted logic then essentially the MHM minister should be getting the Rebuke! [see context of Malachi for detailed understanding].

They have swindled the average church-goer. The average church-goer has to deal with not only the false condemnation of not tithing but he is then extorted to give to things such as:

sacrificial building fund pledges, pastor anniversaries, pastor appreciations, pastor birthdays, sacrificial seed offerings, missionary pledges, social security endowments, bible college pledges, property endowments, death bed wills, etc.

The way the MHM has deceived the people has developed into a cunning craft. As the days go by and the MHM become more embedded in their greed, the tactics they use will get more sly and more noticeable as well. Those who are wise as a serpent will spot the fleecing easily. “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16).

Here are a couple of quotes that I have heard through the filter of Knowledge. While the people robotically clapped in agreement, my Spirit within me raised a RED FLAG.

Notice the MHM quotes:

“If you don’t tithe to this church and are not a faithful tither to this ministry, then don’t expect me (pastor) to offer up any condolences at your death”

And another one:

“Let me tell you something church, if you are not tithing to this ministry and supporting this church by the tithe then you are not fit for the Kingdom of God!”

Amazing! Did you notice the trickery? If one is not institutionalized in the local church then they will see it clearly. The Greed that is being shown is blatant! In the first quote we see the MHM saying that he will not offer up any words of consolation to a grieving family. He will refrain from ministering to the congregant who’s loved one has passed away. I heard this preached with my own two ears and was obviously shocked, to say the least. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t in a weird dream. But no, I was quite awake. The flesh then rose up in me and wanted to confront such an one with a physical reaction then I was reminded of the scripture quoted earlier, “Be wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” Righteous indignation is easily built up when in the vicinity of a MHM.

The second quote from the same “pastor” is a blatant twist of scripture. He said that if you don’t tithe you are not fit for the kingdom of God. Does part of what he said sound familiar? Yes, because portion of what he said is part of scripture. But when you are in the flesh and your mind is on the money, and money is on your mind, you tend to twist things and manipulate things to your own advantage. Now lets see how the scripture truly reads:

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62).

If we take this scripture in context, we will see that Jesus is speaking to those who wanted to follow him. He is warning them to not look back by caring for the things of the world but to follow him without reservation.

In the context one man says he will follow Jesus wherever he goes, Jesus then gives him a sobering thought by stating, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” (Luke 9:58). Another man says he wants to follow Jesus but he would like to first bury his late father, Jesus replies, “Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:60). And yet another man comes and says he will follow Jesus but firsts want to say bye bye to those at his house. Jesus replies, “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62).

Now that is how we reconcile the scriptures. That is how we study to show ourselves approved unto God. The context tells us that we must follow Jesus and not look back unto the things of the world. We must be dedicated and committed to follow him. We must not let the secular things grab our attention away from the Will of God. But the MHM has twisted that scripture to his own advantage and used it to preach about Tithing and worldly gain. “Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.” (Jude 1:11).

The distorting of scriptures for greedy gain happens quite a bit in the so called “ministry” of the MHM. The MHM has taken the scriptures out of context and used them to slay the people with condemnation for his own profit.

If one is a true Minister called by God he won’t “preach a tithe” he won’t beg the people for money, he won’t manipulate the people into giving. The body of Christ (which goes far beyond the local church) should be blessed by the ministry and not manipulated by the ministry. If one wants to give a tithe or percentage of his income to a ministry that is solely a personal desire but not a commandment for the New Testament Church. When one chooses to give as he “purposes in his heart,” he will give CHEERFULLY! For God loves a cheerful giver. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6). God loves a cheerful giver! (vs 7).

We believe those who are blessed by a ministry will give as God puts it on their heart. There should be no force, threat or manipulation in relation to giving. It’s good to give to ministers who are sincere and preach and teach the Word of God without compromise. Sadly, in these last days, there are not many who are preaching sound doctrine. Many have been corrupted by false teachings, extra-biblical doctrines and the traditions of men.

So while the MHM may take advantage of the Flock of God on this earth, his advantage runs out when he crosses over to the Judgment seat of God. His houses, properties, endowments, charms, bank accounts and all that he has attained through a twisting of the Word of God, shall be stripped of him. At that time all that he has gained greedily will be extracted from his soul and he shall be rewarded accordingly. But the reward is not that of a positive payback, but rather the opposite:

” And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

“And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their DAMNATION slumbereth not.”

So is the fate of the Money Hungry Minister.

Amen!

Praise the Lord Pat. I am glad you have been encouraged by the videos and teachings. In these last days, we, as soldiers of the Lord, must glean with carefulness. A little leaven leavens the whole lump! Ultimately we must decide if we want to compromise the Word of God with teachings that go contrary to the Word of God or if we want to remain faithful to the Truth of God. Compromising is birthed when we give heed to extra-biblical doctrines that were never mentioned in the Word of God. Many denominations do this because they have formed their own doctrines. The Beloved John warned us about this: “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” (1 John 2:9). That is the Word of God. And a good rule of thumb when considering a place of fellowship is their “statement of faith/what we believe” usually located on their website. If they use wording and terms that are not in line with the Word of God, they are to be rejected.

May you grow in grace and in the Knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Amen!

Amen brother I know this has nothing to do with your post but, I’m from London and I went to a funeral of my Ugandan community and it was a Catholic Church, it had pictures, idols, statues and stain glasses it kinda made me sick, then I realised my people perish for a lack of knowledge

    Gabriel · March 3, 2019 at 12:58 am

Thank you for that information and for sharing. Yes, when one has a calling from God to be of the Kingdom of God, they will have an uneasiness when entering or being in the vicinity of catholic things. I remember as a young child going into a catholic church to watch a baby baptism, I knew something was off and wrong even as a young child. My little spirit in me recognized the Idolatry. I have spoken with others as well that felt a bad feeling when being in a catholic church, they feel the abominations.

For some reason the catholics do not feel it. They are either numb, or as you say, “lacking knowledge.” Whatever the case may be, we hope they come out of the delusion of the Roman Catholic Idolatry before it’s too late.

    Amen!

My condolences to your loss. I do understand the feeling of the ridding of Idols. When I converted to the Lord, I got rid of a bunch of Junk that was considered idolatry. It felt good to get rid of the stuff no matter how much it cost me. We can’t trade our soul for an idol.

        Amen!
